How often do you do maintenance on your lathe?

  • clean dust shavings from the motor casing using a brush
  • check the bed bars for rust spots/spilt sealers or oil
  • check wiring for any signs of damage
  • check tool rest banjo
  • check the tool rest, file smooth if necessary
  • lubricate if required
  • check tools, handles can work loose in the summer
  • check your band-saw. unplug before cleaning
  • check the grinder. (cracks in wheels can be dangerouse if they fly off)
  • Is your overhead lighting sufficient
  • carefully dispose of oily rags.
  • remove trip hazards
