2009 Social Evening

Saturday, 5th December 2009

The following article was published over six months ago and could now be out of date.

Another year - another social! A good night was had by all at the Stoke Scouts headquarters when a good crowd came together for a pleasant and friendly evening. The numbers were swelled by a contingent from the local woodcarving group, one of whom, Gerald Maddock gave us an amusing rendition of a local ditty. John's quizzes seem to get harder every year but everybody had a go. The proceeds of the raffle were donated to a charity of choice.

There weren't a lot of entries for the Advanced competition but the standard was very good. Stewart Wales won 1st prize. Apologies to Stewart for incorrectly attributing 1st prize to someone else. Not a single entry graced the Beginners' table!

Les Stott gave an interesting and moving story about the tradition and making of love spoons, which was well received.

Thanks to everybody who was involved in the organisation and food preparation for the evening.
